Diabetes Blessings!

Idea for picture/post

Christopher and Brenden

Walk For a Cure - Nov. 2011

I will be doing a post about the blessings of diabetes. Yes, you heard me right...I did say blessings! For now, I will let you enjoy this picture of my boys! Hopefully, I can get the post done tonight!

What are your blessings?

  1. I totally expected this to be Meri's blog, since she's been blogging under "Our Diabetic Life" (www.ourdiabeticlife.com)for several years now!

What a nice surprise to find another blogger in the DOC. Just saw your URL..."Brotherbetics" would make an awesome title...because people (um, mainly ME) can be so easily confused :)

At any rate, nice to "meet" you! My oldest daughter was dx with T1 on 7/25/05, at the age of 24 months, and Celiac in 2008, at the age of 5 years.

Today I went on a field trip with my daughter. That's my daily diabetes blessing -- because of diabetes, I always get to go on her field trips :)

  2. Wendy,
Nice to "meet" you too! I was planning on changing it, especially after I found Meri's blog. Thanks for the suggestion. I changed it!! Brotherbetics is my boy's walk team name too so it's perfect! :)
I can't imagine having a little one being diagnosed. That is one of my blessings too...it's never great at any age, but at least they understand a little more when they are older. I'm so glad to find new friends here!
Have a wonderful evening! Thanks for commenting!

  5. Welcome to the blogging world of the DOC!

I have 2 kiddos. My Superhero was dx with T1 at 18 months, he is now almost 5. My Princess is 3 years old and non-D, but has ITP (platelet disorder) among other issues. We live an autoimmune life. :)

    Nice to meet you!

  6. Hi Tracy!!
It's so nice to "meet" you!! It's amazing how much we all have in common. As you know, both of my boys are T1 and my 12 year old suffered from ITP too. We dealt with it for about a year, but then it resolved itself. You can go to my other blog and see her numbers on the left sidebar. I did that to keep family and friends updated. My other blog is cherimickelsen.blogspot.com
How long has she been dealing with ITP. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask or even if you just want to talk.
    Thanks for sharing.

  8. Hi Nicole! How fun that we have those things in common. For all of you moms out there that have kiddos diagnosed when they are very young...I stand in awe of you!! My boys were 9 and 8 when they were diagnosed so they were old enough to understand (somewhat) and help with their care. I am amazed by them and how quickly they were doing everything for themselves. I is so nice to "meet" you too, Nicole!
